δ-Tocotrienol is a Vitamin E in vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts, grains and oils. Vitamin E has become well known for its role as an antioxidant, in lowering cholesterol and other lipids, as a neuroprotective and anticancer agent, and in cardiovascular disease protection.
In Vitro:δ-Tocotrienol (10-80 µM, 72 h) inhibits the proliferation of cancer cell CNE1, CNE2, EC109, HONE1, HCT116, and MCF-7[1].
δ-Tocotrienol (0-40 µM, 24 h) inhibits AP-1 and NF-κB signaling pathway, activates caspase-3/8/9, arrests the cell cycle at G0/G1 phases, induces apoptosis in human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell CNE1[1].
In Vivo:δ-Tocotrienol (75 mg/kg, sc, single dose) exhibits anti-inflammatory effect against radiation-induced gastrointestinal injury in CD2F1 mouse models[2].
