Butyrylcarnitine is an endogenous metabolite found in plasma. Elevated levels of Butyrylcarnitine are closely associated with abnormalities in lipid and energy metabolism. Butyrylcarnitine can serve as a diagnostic and prognostic indicator for certain diseases, such as heart failure and head and neck cancer[1][2].
In Vitro: Butyrylcarnitine (0-10 mM; 72 h) promotes cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner within a certain concentration range in the HN30 cell line[2].
Butyrylcarnitine (100 µM; 0-96 h) can enhance the proliferation, migration and invasion abilities of HN30 cells[2].
