S 1592 is a compound with bronchodilatory and anti-allergic properties. S 1592 significantly suppresses cough caused by respiratory chemical or mechanical stimulation or superior laryngeal nerve electrical stimulation, without affecting gastrointestinal motility, and has low acute toxicity. S 1592 can be used for research on allergic diseases[1].
In Vivo:S 1592 markedly inhibits coughing induced in laboratory animals by chemical or mechanical irritation of respiratory tract or by electrical stimulation of the superior laryngeal nerve[1].
S 1592 (i.p.) exhibits LD50s of 157 mg/kg and 251 mg/kg in rats and mice, respectively[1].
S 1592 (i.p.) at LD50 doses causes muscle weakness, irritability, and respiratory distress in mice and rats[1].
