Anamorelin (RC-1291) is an orally active Ghrelin receptor agonist with an EC50 of 0.74 nM. Anamorelin can promote appetite, increase body weight, and stimulate the secretion of growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-1. Anamorelin can be used in the research of anorexia and cancer cachexia[1][2].
IC50 & Target:Ki: 0.7 nM (Ghrelin receptor)[1]
EC50: 0.74 nM (Ghrelin receptor)[1]
In Vitro:Anamorelin (0.01 nM-10 μM; 15 min) stimulates growth hormone release in a dose-dependent manner in rat pituitary cells, with an EC50 of 1.5 nM[1].
In Vivo:Anamorelin (3-30 mg/kg; oral administration; 6 days) increases food intake and body weight in rats in a dose-dependent manner[1].
Anamorelin (3.5 mg/kg; oral administration; 1-7 days) significantly elevates the levels of growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-1 in pigs[1].
Anamorelin (3-30 mg/kg; oral administration; 28 days) does not promote tumor growth in a nude mouse model of lung cancer xenografts, but increases the body weight of nude mice[2].
