Ethyl Violet is a triphenylmethane cationic dye with antibacterial activity. Ethyl Violet is applicable to research related to antibacterial therapy and histological staining[1][2]. In Vitro:Ethyl Violet inhibits the activities of Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus[2]. In Vivo:Ethyl violet (for external use; applied to the tip of micro forceps for vessel labeling) facilitates visualization of the vessel wall during arterial microvascular anastomosis[1].
