Siccanin is a succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) inhibitor (IC50=0.9 μM) with species-selective activity. Siccanin also is a antibiotic against pathogenic fungi[1].
IC50 & Target:Succinate Dehydrogenase Inhibitor
In Vitro:Siccanin (10 μg/mL) is species-selective, and Siccanin inhibits bacterial SDH from P. aeruginosa and P. putida but not SDH from E. coli, and C. glutamicum; Siccanin inhibits rodent SDH but not porcine SDH[1].
Specifically, Siccanin inhibits SDH from P. aeruginosa (residual activity 13%) and P. putida (>1%) membranes, and of mouse (>7%) and rat (19%) liver mitochondria, but not SDH from E. coli (77%) and C. glutamicum (97%) membranes and of porcine heart mitochondria (106%)[1].
Siccanin (3 μg/mL) competely inhibits the growth of Trichophyton mentagrophytes (IC50=0.3 μg/mL)[1].
