(E)-Cinnamamide is a non-lethal chemical repellent. (E)-Cinnamamide exists as a trans-cinnamic acid amide metabolite in the culture broth of an unidentified Streptomyces No. 902. (E)-Cinnamamide is used in studies of conditioned taste aversion and repellent activity[1][2]. In Vivo:Cinnamamide (160 mg/kg; oral intubation; single dose) induces a strong and persistent conditioned taste aversion in house mice, as evidenced by the marked reduction in saccharin consumption to 5.8% of total fluid intake[1].
