Bruceine E is a quassinoid from seeds of Brucea javanica (L.) Merr, exhibiting hypoglycemia effect[1]. Bruceine E exhibits blood glucose lowering effect in both nondiabetic mice and Streptozotocin (STZ (HY-13753))-induced diabetic rats at lower dose[2]. In Vivo: Bruceine D and E, isolated from B. javanica seeds, exhibits blood glucose lowering effect in both nondiabetic mice and STZ (HY-13753)-induced diabetic rats at lower dose (1 mg/kg b.w.) during 0-8 h screening[2].
