2'-O-Methylguanosine is a modified nucleoside produced in tRNAs by the action of tRNA guanosine-2’-O-methyltransferase. 2'-O-Methylguanosine results in apoptotic changes of cells[1][2].
In Vitro:2'-O-Methylguanosine (7 µg/mL, 72 h) is an apoptosis inducing nucleoside (AIN) that can be isolated from the culture supernatant of the CD57⁺HLA-DRbright natural suppressor cell (57.DR-NS). 2'-O-Methylguanosine induces apoptosis in cell Molt4[2].
2'-O-Methylguanosine inhibits the activity of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase after the incorporation of nucleotides by hindering the translocation of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. 2'-O-Methylguanosine protects coronavirus RNA from degradation by host nucleases[3].
