Ginkgolic Acid (C13:0) (Ginkgoneolic Acid) is an anti-cariogenic agent and a PI3Kδ inhibitor (IC50: 2.49 μM). Ginkgolic Acid (C13:0) exhibits antibacterial and anti-parasitic activities. Ginkgolic Acid (C13:0) can also inhibit mast cell degranulation (IC50: 2.40 μM)[1][2][3].
In Vitro:Ginkgolic Acid (C13:0) (0-64 μg/mL; 0-24 h) can inhibit and kill S. mutans (MIC: 4 μg/mL; MBC: 8 μg/mL), and also inhibit its adhesion to saliva-coated hydroxyapatite, acid production, and biofilm formation[1].
Ginkgolic Acid (C13:0) (1-100 μM; 1.5 h) significantly inhibits the release of DNP-BSA-induced β-hexosaminidase in RBL-2H3 mast cells and reduces IgE/BSA-induced mast cell degranulation[2].
In Vivo:Ginkgolic Acid (C13:0) (2.5 mg/L; immersion; 48 h) has 100% anthelmintic efficacy in European eels infected with Paradactylogyrus, with an ED50 of 0.72 mg/L[3].
