Spisulosine (ES-285) is an antiproliferative (antitumoral) compound of marine origin. Spisulosine inhibits the growth of the prostate PC-3 and LNCaP cells through intracellular ceramide accumulation and PKCζ activation. Spisulosine induces apoptosis in PC-3 and LNCaP cells[1].
In Vitro:Spisulosine (1 nM-10 μM; 48 h) inhibits the growth of prostate tumor PC-3 and LNCaP cells and human prostate epithelial RWPE-1 cells, and is more effective in PC-3 cells[1].
Spisulosine (1 μM; 48 h) affects the cell cycle, with an increase in the number of sub-G1 cells[1].
Spisulosine (1 μM) induces apoptosis and enhances cleavage of procaspase-3 in PC-3 and LNCaP cells[1].
