2,2'-Methylenebisbenzothiazole is one of the precursors for synthesizing monomethine cyanine dyes. 2,2'-Methylenebisbenzothiazole exhibits a certain degree of anticancer activity[1]. In Vitro:2,2'-Methylenebisbenzothiazole (Compound 1) (10 μM; 72 h) moderately inhibits the proliferation of Caco-2 colorectal adenocarcinoma cells, and its antiproliferative activity is weaker than that of most tested cyanine dyes[1].
