Ac-DEVD-pNA is a ligand for caspase-3/-7 and related cysteine proteases[1][2]. In Vitro:Ac-DEVD-pNA is a peptide substrate for caspase-3/-7. Caspase-3/-7 can catalyze its hydrolysis, releasing the para-nitroaniline (pNA) chromophore. This chromophore has a maximum absorption peak at 405 nm, so it can be used to monitor the activity of caspase-3/-7[2].
