3-Hydroxydodecanoic acid is a medium-chain fatty acid. 3-Hydroxydodecanoic acid activates GPR84 and promotes IL-12 production. 3-Hydroxydodecanoic acid has anticancer activity against colon cancer, lung cancer, and melanoma[1][2].
In Vitro:3-Hydroxydodecanoic acid (1-100 μM, 1 h) induces lipid peroxidation in rat cerebral cortex, with increasing TBA-RS levels[1].
In Vivo:3-Hydroxydodecanoic acid (i.p., days 6, 9, and 12) shows anti-tumor effect via GPR84 activation and IL-12 production in mice carrying MC38 tumors[2].
