Bacopasaponin C is an orally active natural glycoside. Bacopasaponin C can be isolated from Bacopa monniera. Bacopasaponin C inhibits Verapamil (HY-14275)-stimulated P-gp ATPase activity with an IC50 of 57.83 μg/mL. Bacopasaponin C has antitumor activity against sarcomas. Bacopasaponin C has antiparasitic activity against Leishmania donovani[1][2][3].
In Vitro:Bacopasaponin C (25-100 μM) shows no significant inhibitory effect on MDA-MB-231 cell adhesion, migration, or Matrigel invasion[1].
Bacopasaponin C (50-500 μg/mL; 1 h) exhibits no toxicity to mouse peritoneal macrophages, with negligible macrophage mortality compared with untreated controls [2].
Bacopasaponin C inhibits Verapamil (HY-14275)-stimulated P-gp ATPase activity with an IC50 of 57.83 μg/mL[3].
In Vivo:Bacopasaponin C (50 μmol/kg; infused to stomach; once a day; 7 days) shows an inhibition ratio (35.51%) on sarcoma S180 implanted in Balb/c mice[1].
Bacopasaponin C in free form reduces the splenic parasite burden of Leishmania donovani (strain AG83) in Golden hamsters by 40%[2].
