Introduction of 1632-73-1 :

Fenchyl alcohol is a monoterpene alcohol that can be used as a fragrance. Fenchyl alcohol has antifungal activity and can inhibit the formation of biofilms and hyphae of Candida albicans. Fenchyl alcohol also has a strong inhibitory effect on the rumen microbial activity of sheep and deer[1][2][3]. In Vitro:Fenchyl alcohol has a strong inhibitory effect on rumen microbial activity and inhibits rumen microbial fermentation activity[1].
Fenchyl alcohol (0.005-0.01%; 4-24 h) inhibits the formation of Candida albicans biofilm and hyphae, and inhibits the metabolism of biofilm cells [2]. In Vivo:Fenchyl alcohol (shake incubation; 0.00-0.01%; 4 days) inhibits the toxicity of Candida albicans and improves the survival rate of C. elegans in C. elegans model[2].
In rats treated with Fenchyl alcohol (2.05, 2.56, 3.2, 4.0, and 5.0 g/kg, orally, single-dose, observed for 14 days), all rat deaths occurred between days 1 and 3. At the 2.05 and 2.56 g/kg doses, half of the animals died; at 3.2 g/kg, three-thirds died; at 4.0 g/kg, two-half died; and at 5.0 g/kg, all five-fifths died[4].
Fenchyl alcohol is administered topically at a dose of 2.0 g/kg body weight, and observed for 14 days. No deaths occurred in either of the two guinea pigs in the experimental group[4].
