HEPPS (EPPS) is a buffering agent with the useful pH range from 7.3 ~ 8.7. HEPPS reduces Aβ-aggregate-induced memory deficits and rescues cognitive deficits in mice. EPPS is orally active and penetrates the blood-brain barrier[1]. In Vitro:HEPPS (0-25 μM, 7 days) binds to amyloid-β aggregates and convert them into monomers, thereby reducing the formation of amyloid-β oligomers and plaques. HEPPS rescues cell damage induced by amyloid-β aggregates[1]. In Vivo:HEPPS (30 mg/kg/day, po, in drinking water for 3.5 months) improves the cognitive dysfunction in APP/PS1 transgenic mice, and can be used in Alzheimer's disease research[1].
