Ulipristal (CDB 3236) is a selective progesterone receptor modulator (SPRM). Ulipristal binds to the progesteron receptor, thereby inhibiting PR-mediated gene expression, and interfering with progesterone activity in the reproductive system[1]. In Vivo: Ulipristal (CDB 3236) may suppress the growth of uterine leiomyomatosis. By inhibiting or delaying ovulation and effecting endometrial tissue, ulipristal can be used as an emergency contraception[1].
