BPH-652 is a S. aureus dehydrosqualene synthase (CrtM) inhibitor, with a Ki of 1.5 nM and an IC50 of 100-300 nM (S. aureus pigment formation)[1].

In Vivo: BPH-652 treatment (0.5 mg twice per day (days ?1, 0, 1, and 2), Intraperitoneal injection) significantly lowers S. aureus bacterial counts in the kidneys of the mice than those of the control group (P < 0.001), with 8 of 13 below the detection threshold, versus only 2 of 14 in the control group; on average, this result corresponds to a 98% decrease in surviving bacteria in the treatment group[1].
