Carbiphene is a GABAA receptor allosteric modulator. Carbiphene inhibits [35S] TBPS binding and enhances [3H] muscimol binding on rat forebrain membranes, acting on specific GABAA receptor subsets. Carbiphene can be used in research related to schizophrenia[1].
In Vitro:Carbiphene inhibits the binding of [35S]TBPS to rat whole forebrain membranes with an IC50 of 12 μM[1].
