Kaempferol 3,7,4'-trimethyl ether is an O-methylated kaempferol flavonol aglycone distributed in Siparuna gigantotepala, Aframomum arundinaceum and Siparuna guianensis. Kaempferol 3,7,4'-trimethyl ether exhibits antioxidant activity. Kaempferol 3,7,4'-trimethyl ether suppresses the proliferation of leukemia cells and exerts selective cytotoxicity against both drug‑sensitive and multi‑factorial drug‑resistant cancer cells. Kaempferol 3,7,4'-trimethyl ether can be applied in the research of multidrug‑resistant cancers[1][2][3].
In Vitro:Kaempferol 3,7,4'-trimethyl ether exhibits potent DPPH free radical scavenging activity and moderate oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) in vitro[1].
Kaempferol 3,7,4'-trimethyl ether (0.16-40 μg/mL; 72 h) exhibits selective cytotoxic activity against CCRF-CEM, CEM/ADR5000, MDA-MB-231-BCRP clone 23, and HCT116 p53-/- cancer cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 18.22 to 36.74 μg/mL, and shows no toxicity to normal AML12 hepatocytes[2].
