Lincomycin

Lincomycin (U-10149) is an orally active lincosamide antibiotic. Lincomycin binds to the ribosomes of Gram-positive bacteria to inhibit protein synthesis. Lincomycin can inhibit chloroplast translation, disrupt chloroplast integrity, and activate chloroplast-to-nucleus retrograde signaling in Arabidopsis thaliana seedlings. Lincomycin induces alterations in lipid profiles and liver injury, disrupts blood glucose and insulin levels, and increases growth rate in mice^[1][2][3]. In Vitro:Lincomycin (0.5-10 μg/mL; 10 days) can enhance the biosynthesis of actinorhodin and undecylprodigiosin in liquid-cultured Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2) 1147^[2]. In Vivo:Lincomycin (33 mg/kg; p.o.; ad libitum daily; 8 weeks) increases body weight by 50.11%, induces early-stage NAFLD and type 2 diabetes-related metabolic dysfunction, disrupts gut microbiota structure and promotes antimicrobial resistance development, and suppresses intestinal inflammatory responses in male ICR mice^[3].
