Triflupromazine is an antipsychotic agent. Triflupromazine is Dopamine D1/D2 receptor antagonist and serotonin receptor 5-HT2 modulator. Triflupromazine also exhibits significant antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria[1][2]. In Vitro: Triflupromazine binds to the dopamine D1 and dopamine D2 receptors and inhibits their activity. Triflupromazine also binds the muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (M1 and M2) and the serotonin receptor 5-HT2[1]. In Vivo: Triflupromazine (30 microg/mouse (20 g), IP, once) shows a significant protection to the Swiss albino mice, and shows a significant reduction in the number of viable bacteria in organ homogenates and blood of mice[2].
