Chromafenozide is a potent partial ecdysone receptor agonist and dibenzoylhydrazine insecticide. Chromafenozide inhibits insect feeding and causes the insect to molt prematurely, leading to death. Chromafenozide shows antagonistic activity against 20-HE. Chromafenozide shows high toxicity against Spodoptera exigua and Spodoptera littoralis[1][2][3][4][5].
In Vitro:Chromafenozide (0.01-0.1 nM) reduces the luciferase activity induced by 20-HE by about half in Sf9 cells, showing antagonistic activity against 20-HE[1].
Chromfenoxate (0.1 nM-100 μM; 5 days) inhibits proliferation of both Se4 and S2 cells, with higher inhibitory activity against Se4 cells than against S2 cells[2].
In Vivo:Chromafenozide (0.39-39.4 ng/larva; topical application; 7 days) shows high toxicity against Spodoptera exigua and Spodoptera littoralis[2].
