Monolaurin (1-Monolaurin) is an orally active antibiotic with antiviral and antibacterial properties[1][2][3]. In Vitro: Monolaurin (1.25 μg/mL, 24 hours) exhibits significant inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus[3]. Monolaurin (2.5 μg/mL, over 48 hours) exhibits significant bactericidal effects on Staphylococcus aureus[3]. In Vivo: Monolaurin (5 mg per mouse, orally administered, once daily for 30 days) can effectively inhibit Staphylococcus aureus infection in C3H/hej mice[1].
