2-Methoxybenzaldehyde (o-Anisaldehyde) is a bacterial/fungal inhibitor with a BA50 value of 0.19 for Salmonella. 2-Methoxybenzaldehyde can be used for the study of bacterial and fungal infectious diseases[1][2][3]. In Vitro:2-Methoxybenzaldehyde has anti Candida effects by targeting the inhibition of plasma membrane H ATPase, leading to intracellular acidification and Candida cell death[1]. 2-Methoxybenzaldehyde has an anti-mutagenic effect on 4-nitroquinoline-1-oxide induced mutations in Escherichia coli[2]. 2-Methoxybenzaldehyde has antibacterial activity against Salmonella enterica with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 2.5 mg/mL[3].
