Oncaspar (PEG-L-asparaginase; Pegasparaginase), a pegylated form of native Escherichia coli-derived L-asparaginase, breaks down the amino acid asparagine that are circulating in the bloodstream. Oncaspar plays an important role in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) through asparagine hydrolysis and activation of the integrated stress response (ISR) pathway[1].
In Vitro:Oncaspar (2 IU/mL, 48 h) inhibits the cell viability of 266-6, suppresses the expression of ATF3/4 proteins, and promotes the expression of FGF21 protein[2].
In Vivo:Oncaspar (1 IU/g, intramuscular, single dose) causes edema and inflammatory infiltration in the pancreases of rats, induces inflammatory responses in Sprague-Dawley rats models[2].
