Tris (hydroxymethyl) nitromethane is a fungicide and slime control agent. Tris (hydroxymethyl) nitromethane exhibits cytotoxicity against EBV-transformed human Burkitt's lymphoma cells. Tris (hydroxymethyl) nitromethane also serves as an important raw material and intermediate in organic synthesis[1]. In Vitro:Tris(hydroxymethyl)nitromethane induces partially heat-resistant DNA-protein cross-links in EBV-transformed human Burkitt lymphoma cells. This effect is highly cytotoxic and causes complete cell death 4 days after treatment[1].
