Arformoterol ((R,R)-Formoterol) maleate, the (R,R)-enantiomer of Formoterol, is a long-acting β2-adrenergic receptor (β2-AR) agonist, with a Kd of 2.9 nM. Arformoterol maleate can be used for the research of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)[1][2].
In Vitro: Arformoterol maleate induces cAMP accumulation in cultured human bronchial epithelial cells[1].
In Vivo: Arformoterol (10 ng in 0.1 ml saline/20 g body weight; intranasal instillation) maleate mitigates Cl2-induced increases of respiratory system resistance and elastance in mice[3].
Arformoterol maleate reverses histamine- and ovalbumin-induced bronchoconstriction in guinea pigs (ED50s=1 and 40 nmol/kg, respectively)[1].
