Sulfamonomethoxine is an orally active sulfonamide antibiotic for veterinary use. Sulfamonomethoxine is also an inhibitor of dihydropteroate synthetase, which can block the synthesis of folic acid. Sulfamonomethoxine has antibacterial activity[1][2].
In Vitro:Sulfamonomethoxine (72 h) can inhibit the growth of Chlorella vulgaris and Isochrysis galbana, with the EC50 values of 5.9 and 9.7 mg/L, respectively[1].
Sulfamonomethoxine (48 h) is toxic to Daphnia magna and Daphnia similis, which can lead to their death, with LC50 values of 48 and 283 mg/L, respectively[1].
