Phenoxyethanol has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial agent. Phenoxyethanol is an uncouple agent in oxidative phosphorylation from respiration and competitively inhibits malate dehydrogenase. Phenoxyethanol is used as a preservative in cosmetic, vaccine, and textile, et al[1]. In Vitro:Phenoxyethanol exhibits antimicrobial activity against gram-positive bacteria and fungi C. albicans. Phenoxyethanol enhances the microbial uptake of low molecular weight substances, and can be used for vaccine preparation[1].
