Damulin B is a dammarane-type saponin found in Gynostemma pentaphyllum. Damulin B can inhibit cancer cell apoptosis, decrease mitochondrial membrane potential, inhibit ROS production and cause G0/G1 phase arrest. Damulin B can prevent Cisplatin (HY-17394)-induced acute kidney injury and induce hair growth. Damulin B shows anti-inflammation anti-diabetic and anti-obesity effect. Damulin B can be used for the researches of cancer, inflammation, metabolic disease, such as lung cancer, osteoarthritis and diabetes[1][2][3][4][5][6].
In Vitro:Damulin B inhibits A549 and H1299 cells growth with IC50 values of 21.9 and 21.7 μM[1].
Damulin B (20-24 μM, 24 h) induces apoptosis and ROS production in A549 and H1299 cells[1].
Damulin B (20-24 μM, 24 h) cause the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential in A549 and H1299 cells[1].
Damulin B (20-24 μM, 24 h) reduces colony formation and inhibits migration in A549 and H1299 cells[1].
Damulin B (20-24 μM, 24 h) induces G0/G1 phase arrest in A549 and H1299 cells[1].
Damulin B (2.5-20 μM, 24 h) inhibits apoptosis in Cisplatin (HY-17394)-induced HEK293 cells[2].
Damulin B (0-80 μM, 24 h) shows no effect on cells viability in SW1353 cells[4].
Damulin B (10-80 μM, 1 h) inhibits IL-1β-induced NO and PGE2 production in SW1353 cells[4].
Damulin B (3-12 μM) inhibit cartilage-degrading enzymes in IL-1β-induced SW1353 cells[4].
Damulin B (1.2-12 μM) increases 2-deoxy-[3H]D-glucose uptake in L6 myotube cells[6].
In Vivo:Damulin B (25 and 50 mg/kg, i.p., daily for 7 days) suppresses oxidativestress and maintaining AMPKα1 levels in Cisplatin (HY-17394)-induced acute kidney injury mice[2].
Damulin B (0.9 mL/day, p.o.) induce hair growth via the Wnt/β-catenin pathway through AKT signaling in mice[3].
