cis,cis-Muconic acid is a dicarboxylic acid produced by Saccharomyces cerevisiae. cis,cis-Muconic acid shows pH-dependent toxicity against Saccharomyces cerevisiae CEN.PK113-7D. cis,cis-Muconic acid can be used as intermediate for the production of various plastics and polymers[1][2]. In Vitro:cis,cis-Muconic acid (0-50 g/L) toxicity to Saccharomyces cerevisiae CEN.PK113-7D is pH-dependent, with 5 g/L causing 43% growth inhibition at unadjusted pH, and 50 g/L causing 78% growth inhibition at pH 6.0[2].
