1,3-Dibromopropane (Trimethylene dibromide) is a dihaloalkane substrate. 1,3-Dibromopropane serves as a dehalogenation substrate for the haloalkane dehalogenase DmmA, and undergoes hydrolysis to remove bromine atoms. 1,3-Dibromopropane acts as an intermediate in organic synthesis[1][2]. In Vitro:1,3-Dibromopropane (0.1-6.0 mM) is catalyzed for dehalogenation by purified recombinant DmmAshort protein with a Km of 0.24 mM[2].
