3-Hydroxypyridine is a compound that can be isolated from bamboo grass. As an endogenous photosensitizer present in human skin, 3-hydroxypyridine can mediate oxidative stress, proliferation inhibition and apoptosis of skin cells through UVA/UVB excitation[1][2]. In Vitro:3-Hydroxypyridine (100 μM; 3 days) inhibits proliferation and induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in HaCaT keratinocytes after solar simulated light irradiation[1].
