Trospium chloride is an orally active, specific and competitive antagonist of muscarinic cholinergic receptors (mAChRs), with antimuscarinic activity. Trospium chloride binds to muscarinic receptors M1, M2 and M3 with high affinity, but not nicotinic, cholinergic receptors[1][2].
IC50 & Target:mAChRs[1][2]
In Vitro:Trospium chloride (1 nM-100 μM) inhibits Carbachol (HY-B1208)-induced contraction of human detrusor smooth muscle with an EC50 of 3 nM[2].
In Vivo:Trospium chloride (0.1-0.5 mg/kg, iv, single dose) inhibits the gastric and intestinal motility in dog models[1].
