DL-alpha-Tocopherol is a synthetic vitamin E, with antioxidation effect. DL-alpha-Tocopherol protects human skin fibroblasts against the cytotoxic effect of UVB[1].
In Vitro:DL-alpha-Tocopherol (0.1-1 mM, 0-12 days) inhibits the proliferation of cancer cell OCIM-1, HEL and MCF-7, inhibits the DNA synthesis and induces apoptosis[3].
In Vivo:DL-alpha-Tocopherol (100 mg/kg, iv, single dose) inhibit iron-induced lipid peroxidation in amygdala, limits brain injury response in Sprague-Dawley rats models[2].
