Ferric phosphate is used as food and feed supplement, particularly in bread enrichment. Ferric phosphate is also used as a fertilizer and as a molluscicide for a variety of slugs and snails including Deroceras reticulatum, D.laeve, Arion subfuscus[1]. In Vitro:Ferric phosphate undergoes phosphate solubilization by soil microorganisms such as Penicillium radicum[1]. In Vivo:Ferric phosphate (0.01-10000 mg/kg; incorporation into artificial soil; continuous exposure) has an LD50 greater than 10000 mg/kg in Eisenia fetida earthworms, showing no significant toxicity to these soil invertebrates at tested concentrations[1].
