Introduction of 10025-77-1 :

Ferric chloride (Iron (III) chloride) hexahydrate serves as a biochemical reagent applicable to life science research. Ferric chloride hexahydrate acts as a thrombosis inducer and vascular injury inducer, which can be used in studies related to arterial thrombosis[1][2]. In Vivo:Ferric chloride (5-65%; topical; single application) hexahydrate dose-dependently induces occlusive arterial thrombosis in male Sprague-Dawley rats, with time to occlusion decreasing from 60 minutes at 5% concentration to ~14 minutes at 65% concentration, and thrombi consist of activated platelets, red blood cells, and fibrin consistent with arterial thrombus morphology[1].
Ferric chloride (7.5%; topical; 1-minute exposure) hexahydrate induces reproducible occlusive thrombosis with an average occlusion time of 11.3 minutes in the carotid artery of C57BL/6 mice[2].
Ferric chloride (12.5%; topical; 1-minute exposure) hexahydrate induces occlusive thrombosis in mesenteric vessels of C57BL/6 mice, with faster occlusion in veins (average 17 minutes) than arteries (average 23 minutes)[2].
